Manager Colliers Dugmore Properties Somerset West
I spend hours of time on the telephone; providing information about properties, handling queries regarding the transfer process, speaking to attorneys, buyers, sellers and banks. I also spend a huge amount of time viewing properties and taking clients to see properties they might find interesting. The legal aspect of this job is quite intense as we are required to understand the legalities of selling a person’s most valuable investment.
Interacting with customers. I also love houses – building and selling them.
I am on call at least 17 hours out of 24 and even then, I still get calls at 11pm and at 6am. I don’t really have time to call my own.
Selling a client’s house is really satisfying. Particularly if the client is really desperate to sell and I can assist him to get the price he wants.
Listen to your customers and be empathetic. This business is about understanding people and what they need – they often don’t quite know what they want themselves and you have to try to predict what home will provide an emotional response. Buying a home is an emotional decision and very often is not a rational choice, but rather a gut feeling that you will be happy in a certain type of home.
I am not inspired by other people. I am inspired personally to do my best and to assist others to do their best. Seeing someone really pleased with something I have done is truly inspiring for me.
