Day in the life of Paul Langeveld
Nothing means more to me than spending time with my family and getting to know all our visitors. The smile on their faces makes all our hard work worth while.
Six years ago we decided to immigrate to South Africa after 5 years of experience in Asia. We are originally from Holland and immediately felt comfortable in South Africa, specifically in the Somerset West Area.
With our small kids, at that stage 1 and 2 years old, we started a Guesthouse in the main road of Somerset West. Bringing back alive the beautiful Cape Dutch Homestead was a challenging but motivating project. We then sold that guest house and started another one, Shepherd’s Land Country House.
For us it is a perfect combination having the Guest house on the premises. We have lot’s of spare time with the family as we are always at “home”. That really gives us the opportunity to make a decent living and see and enjoy the kids growing up.
So every now and then we consider our future back in Europe. However, every time we weigh up the options we hear the voices of our friends, family and guests saying that we are fortunate to live in the Western Cape…. And honestly, they are 100% right.
