Day in the Life of Jeandre Smuts!

My Life is very simple. I live for my family and thrive on the success of Jimmy's Killer Prawns in Somerset West. Nothing makes me happier than to see all my hard work resulting in satisfied customers and a closer family relationship.

My day starts off at 07.30. My wife, Teodora and I both help around the house and eventually drop Jean-Pierre off at pre-primary. After that, it's off to work!

From 09.00 I start with the basics. I do stock taking, book keeping of the previous day as well as order placement for the restaurant. The mornings are nice and quiet, but from 12.00 until 15.00 and from 17.00 until 22.00, the customers start to come in. During this time I am actively involved in the kitchen. My wife assists front of house by attending to incoming customers and seat placing.

As the day goes on, we do a lot of planning and training of our employees in order to ensure that our high standard of service and excellence in food are maintained. This is our policy to success and so far it has worked for us. My day normally comes to an end between 22.00 and 24.00. By then we assure that the restaurant is neat and tidy for the next day.

I really enjoy my work because I get to share this experience with my family and my staff. I am inspired by my family, those I work with and by the great response of our customers.

The future of the restaurant is very promising here in Somerset West. I love the town, I love the restaurant and most of all, I love my family both at work and at home.
