Day in the life of Bettina Horvath

After getting my son to play-school my days are filled with some or all of the following: presentations, sales calls, marketing activities, event organization, e-mailing, networking and then of course actual time working with clients.

As the regional developer for SalesPartners in the Western and Northern Cape I am responsible for finding, recruiting, training and supporting future franchisees. At the same time I am the local SalesPartners franchisee for the Helderberg area and am actively working with clients as their business coach.

Our FIT (franchisee in training) program is very comprehensive and extensive thus it takes a while to complete. In fact the ongoing initial training may take anything from 3 to 9 months. It is a modular system that builds on top of each new block. This way any SP franchisee is able to service clients and earn an income right from the beginning.

Therefore a part of my time is spent with studying and some weird exercises! I have to giggle when I think about it. Some local business owners might recall me recently walking into their business and stumbling some kind of introduction. It was part of my training, doing 100 cold calls in order to get over the little voice in my head telling me what a stupid fool I am!

I am a Retriever (as per our SalesDogs methodology, see www.salesdogs.com for more info) and thus hate cold calling. It was a huge learning experience indeed, I can only recommend it – not for the sake of selling anything, indeed it’s the worst method to do so – but for the sake of winning the battle between your left and right ear.
