Wanted Design and Advertising
[August 2008] In today’s competitive market it is ever-challenging to stand out from the crowd. Not so for Wanted Design and Advertising whose combined expertise in marketing, advertising and design enable their clients to meet their marketing goals.
Swest.info had the opportunity to chat to the vibrant and humorous, Sarel van der Westhuizen (Director of Wanted Design and Advertising) whose enthusiasm and excitement for his job and the industry is of a contagious nature. Sarel attended the National School of Arts in Johannesburg and later obtained an Honours Degree in Graphic Design and Photography at the University of Stellenbosch.
He went on to work for various local agencies and later headed for and worked in the United Kingdom - only to return to Somerset West (we love to hear that!). Often he would use the phrases “wanted for photography” or “wanted for graphic design” to sell his skills and services when freelancing and this sparked the idea for “Wanted Design and Advertising” in 1999.
Sarel describes his business as a marketing arm for companies (both big and small) and local clients include: Spier, Blaauwklippen Wine Estate, Mastermaths, Cape Aqua, Straightway Head Hotel, Ingwe Wines and JF Hillebrand (a global shipping company based locally and internationally). Generally said, Wanted Design and Advertising services the Wine Industry and other corporates. Acting as a custodian for a client’s brand, Wanted Design and Advertising is dedicated to provide a result driven product.
They pride themselves in being able to build a brand from initial concept, nurturing and growing with it. This enables the creative team to intimately know the brand and the market it is competing in. As a small core agency, Wanted Design and Advertising values each client and project with care, consideration and an unmistakable personal touch, which might be the secret to their ever growing and long lasting client base.

With a staff contingency of four members, each person plays a vital and specifically important role. Sarel is Creative Director, leading the way with his impressive business savvy and talent for creating new concepts, Suné takes cares of the company accounting, production and traffic and Christo and Marna complete the design team.
Sarel describes his (and the company’s) future as prosperous and bright. With this fantastic collaboration of talent and passion it might just turn out to be so.
