[August 2008] With a passion for helping people, love for the wine industry and the need to combine fun with a business idea, Trudy Dempsey and Erica Vermeulen established Solved Staffing Solutions.

This agency is a culmination of thorough industry experience and the need to deliver a different recruitment experience for both candidates and clients.

It all started when they reached a turning point questioning their lives and future. They wanted to do something that would make them really happy and they were willing to use every skill and experience gained to do just that, and that’s when Solved was born.

Although their expertise lies in the wine industry, Trudy being a qualified accountant and Erica’s experience in sales and marketing gives Solved all round capability in general areas of recruitment.

However, when it comes to the wine industry, Solved works in two ways. On the one hand they advertise specific positions that are available and on the other hand they invite people with wine industry experience to submit their details and then they search for that “perfect” job.

They both believe that a perfect job exists. People need to take stock and know what their strengths and weaknesses are; this will assist them in finding the job that matches those strengths. Meeting up with as many prospective candidates is a sure objective and although it is not always possible, it really does make a difference meeting both the client and the candidate in person.

You might be wondering what’s in it for the clients? Well, for the wine industry, definitely their industry experience. It’s a great industry to work in, but really demanding and if you don’t understand the demands, you cannot recruit for it successfully. As far as the general aspect goes, they really love solving things!! Trudy and Erica describe themselves as privileged to be doing exactly what they were made to do and this gives them an edge in every day challenges. Their aim is to save the client time, money and energy!

We asked them what they enjoyed most about their job and they both agreed on the same thing: the challenge to keep the customer satisfied and hunting down the best candidate! For them there is no greater moment and feeling of accomplishment than when a client tells a candidate “you’ve got the job!”
