Goddess Music

[June 2008] Sway to the music of the Goddess and open those inner doors!

Lindie Lila is part of the ranks of brave musicians the world over who can call themselves Conscious musicians. She is what I can only describe as a Sunshine Being, exuding warmth and passion for what she believes is part of her earthly mission.

Coming from a family that encourages artistry in all forms, one of Lila’s earliest memories are that of holding “house concerts” for their families with her cousins. She began playing guitar at an early age and composed her first song at age 9. Her passion for music led to her studying at Pretoria Technikon. She also spent a few years studying Middle Eastern Dance. Having spent most of her formative years in Gauteng, she moved to the Cape a few years ago with her cat and a few Rand’s in her pocket and began a Belly Dance School. This became so successful that she performed at the 3 various SA Belly Dance Festivals. Lindie-Lila stays in Somerset West now and recently graced us with her voice on an Earth Day gathering at Helderberg Nature Reserve.

Lila took part in the recent first ever South African Goddess Conference in Franschhoek. She was asked by Hettienne Grobler; a Priestess, to compose a theme song for the conference. This became an introspective journey and it took many months before she connected to Mother Earth and channelled the words and music for this song. The experience of creating Mama Gaia changed her profoundly from within, and has led to her starting her own label called Goddess Music. The CD “Return of the Goddess, Sacred Chants for Women” has Mama Gaia as one of the tracks as well as well known Celtic Sacred Chants.

She stresses that where she performs is extremely important to her as her artistry comes from so deep within that the atmosphere must resonate. Her altered state of mind when she plays her songs is evident as it flows within the listeners and everyone present will take something else away. She opens doors within that lead the listener to their own sacred space.

Lila’s aim is to reinforce the message of Mama Gaia, by creating an Earth conscious music video. A multi media medium will appeal to a wider audience and will strengthen the voice of our Great Mother Earth Lila envisions this song to become an anthem for living consciously on this planet, to her Mama Gaia is a Sacred Calling to the Children of Africa.

Let us support our local Musicians, you can also listen to her music online and purchase it at www.lindielila.co.za and find her on Facebook!

For many Conscious Musicians it’s often a question of sponsorship to let their dreams come true. Too often the softer issues of caring about our earth are ignored as it is simply not commercially viable. They walk the fine line between not wanting to become mainstream yet needing to get a message to the general public.
