Cricket
Beautiful surroundings, awesome little town and friendly people!
Somerset West Cricket Club has been around for 118 years. Somerset West Cricket Club was a founder member of the original Western Province Cricket Association. Records show that there was a friendly match in 1875 at present Vergelegen Medi Clinic site between two British Colonial Sides.
Somerset West Cricket Club is located on the foot of the Helderberg with the Hottentots Holland Mountain range in the distance. A gorgeous setting for cricket - described by cricket commentators as the most beautiful for club cricket in South Africa. Also known as "little newlands" hence the mountain in the background. Club practices are Tuesday and Thursday, from 17h15 - 19h00. All welcome!
We have grown from 23 senior members 2005/2006 season to 4 full teams this season - 76 members on book and roughly about 80 junior members that also take part in the Western Province League. Club cricket is definitely alive in Somerset West!!
Somerset West Cricket Club of course!
